Values
Respect, Integrity, Caring, Dignity, Compassion, Christ-like
Respect
Show proper respect to everyone: 1 Peter 2:17
Respect is showing regard and appreciation for the worth of others. Respect is honoring other people’s wants, needs, ideas, differences, beliefs, customs, and heritage.
It includes respect for self, respect for the rights and dignity of all persons, and respect for the environment that sustains life.
Integrity
The integrity of the upright guides them, Proverbs 11:3
Integrity is conducting business in a legal and ethical manner. We are always accountable for our actions. We treat each other with dignity and respect. We are engaged and responsible community and corporate citizens.
Living with integrity is about making sure that our actions align with our beliefs. It means matching our inner world with our outer world. It means honoring our deepest truths.
Caring
We should love people not only with words and talk but by our actions and, true caring. 1 John 3:18
Caring is about our residents, their loved ones, and each other.
While the focus on our residents is clear and critical, it’s important that their loved ones are engaged and comfortable with the care being provided and that they feel cared for. Caring for each other is fundamental in providing the kind of consistent, compassionate care that we aspire to deliver. Mutual respect for each team member, understanding and appreciating the value of each person’s contributions, and being able to constructively challenge each other to achieve our very best.
Dignity
Treat everyone you meet with dignity. 1st Peter 2:17
Dignity is respect for the worth of every person, the recognition and commitment to the value of diverse individuals and perspectives. A commitment to treat each individual as uniquely created in the image of God and worthy of respect.
Dignity is enhanced and supported when we demonstrate courtesy, respect the individual’s right to make decisions, and allow personal assistance and care to be provided in privacy, with acceptance of disabilities and emphasis on abilities.
The dignity of risk means giving people the respect of making their own choices, consistent with their own capabilities and desires,
Compassion
Clothe yourselves with compassion. Colossians 3:12
Compassion is a deep feeling for and understanding of others without regard to race, age, creed, or social standing. This includes kindness, generosity, forgiveness, caring, friendship, love and sharing toward all people including the physically and mentally challenged.
Compassion is demonstrating love and concern in our relationships, serving one another with grace, humility, gentleness and sensitivity in a manner which respects diversity and honors the dignity and worth of everyone.
Christ-like
By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:35
Christ-likeness is the ongoing process of aligning our thoughts, attitudes and actions with the mind of Christ.
As Christ-like people, we have an attitude, of grace and compassion, of worship and service. A Christ-like person is the salt of the earth, the light of the world. A Christ-like person teaches and obeys Jesus’ commands; loving others, praying for others, helping others.
Beth Haven is a community where integrity, Christ-like Compassion, caring, and respecting the dignity of all individuals is the core.
